Gothenborg welcomed us with sunny summer days and long nights for late dinners sitting outside for the discussion of the latest news in Musculoskeletal Oncology. About 440 participants out of 47 countries discussed new treatment options for and technologies in the surgery of muscoskeletal cancer diseases at the 26th<\/sup> European Musculoskeletal Oncology Society Meeting, taking place from 29th<\/sup> to 31st<\/sup> May 2013 in Gothenborg, Sweden.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The interdisciplinary and cross-functional meeting of the European Musculoskeletal Oncology Society Meeting scheduled from 29th<\/sup> to 31st<\/sup> May 2013, was associated with a corresponding nurses and allied professions group Meeting. About 440 participants out of 47 countries discussed new treatment options for and technologies in the surgery of muscoskeletal cancer diseases. Participants were orthopaedics, oncologists, \u00a0surgeons, nurses and other professionals involved in the treatment of musculoskeletal cancers. Other than the years before, only few Oncologists participated, as ASCO Congress in USA started immediately after this meeting.<\/p>\n

–\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Also the Patients perspective was subject to some sessions. They reported considerably improved quality of live (QoL) due to new systems for protheses of the extremities and new treatment options. <\/b><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

–\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Ake <\/b>Anderson<\/b> <\/b>gave<\/b> <\/b>a long<\/b> <\/b>term<\/b> testimony <\/b>of<\/b> <\/b>his<\/b> <\/b>personal<\/b> <\/b>trip<\/b> through <\/b>an<\/b> orphan disease: <\/b>Osteosarcoma<\/b>. Especially <\/b>in<\/b> <\/b>his<\/b> <\/b>disease<\/b> <\/b>an<\/b> <\/b>aligned<\/b> <\/b>interdisciplinary<\/b> approach <\/b>to<\/b> <\/b>treatment<\/b> and <\/b>rehabilitation<\/b> <\/b>was <\/b>crucial and key for good treatment outcome. He got his diagnosis about 20 years ago and he stated <\/b>\u00a0\u201cPhysicians save your life, nurses and physiotherapists will bring you back to life, social life\u201d.\u00a0 <\/b>After<\/b> several relapses <\/b>and<\/b> receiving <\/b>the<\/b> <\/b>diagnosis<\/b> <\/b>of<\/b> <\/b>progressive<\/b> <\/b>disease<\/b> <\/b>again<\/b> recently, <\/b>he<\/b> <\/b>is<\/b> <\/b>still<\/b> <\/b>strong<\/b> and <\/b>optimistic<\/b> and <\/b>he<\/b> <\/b>asked<\/b> everybody <\/b>in<\/b> <\/b>the<\/b> audience: \u201cWhat about the future? Who really knows?\u201d<\/b><\/p>\n
